Who is Marco Cecchinato?

He is the unheralded Italian, ranked No 72 in the world, who has stunned Roland Garros to reach the last four of the grand slam. In doing so has become the first Italian man to reach the last four of a major since 1978. 

Why is it such a big deal?

The 25-year-old had not won a main-draw match at a grand slam before. 

He also becomes the lowest-ranked men's semi-finalist at the French Open since Andrei Medvedev in 1999.

Cecchinato will be guaranteed a place inside the top 30 whatever happens in the semi-final and will be seeded for Wimbledon.
